Rainbow Connection 2019 Impact Report

Our Mission The Rainbow Connection makes dreams come true for Michigan children with life-threatening medical conditions. In addition, we provide support services to our wish families experiencing financial difficulties. Wow! What a year 2019 turned out to be for The Rainbow Connection. Starting with Dream Makers Ball, we saw an increase in attendees and generosity of donors at this black tie gala. We formed new partnerships with the Detroit Foundation Hotel/Apparatus Room and the Detroit Wine Organization. Togetherwith thesepartners,weheldanewevent calledDetroit Uncorked. This wine tasting event gave us the opportunity to introduce our mission to a brand new audience. It was a milestone anniversary for the event that launched our mission – The Dobson Golf Outing. This was our 40th year and what a celebration it was! We sold out the course and even added additional foursomes to accommodate everyone. Great Oaks Country Club not only helped to make this event a huge success, they too raised money throughout the year to make wishes come true and presented a check to The Rainbow Connection for $30,000! We finished the year with one of my favorite events – Celebration of Dreams. This magical night of fine dining, fellowship and most importantly, a Wish Kids fashion show, knocked it out of the park! Chad Rinke led the most generous dedicated giving we have ever experienced. All in all, it was an incredible year for fundraising to make wishes come true. There are so many people to thank this year. From the hundreds of volunteers who help us, to the businesses who support our mission, to the individuals who are now supporting our mission with an ongoing monthly donation. THANK YOU for your loyalty to TRC. I also want to thank my loyal staff. They work harder and harder each year to come up with new ideas and creative ways to support our mission. To the TRC Board members, I say thank you for your trust in us to carry out this mission and your unrelenting support. The Rainbow Connection is committed to fiscal responsibility in stewarding the resources provided to us in fulfilling our mission. Of each dollar spent in the fiscal year 2019, over 86 cents was devoted to our program mission of providing wishes to children here in Michigan. Very few charitable organizations reach and sustain this level of administrative and fundraising efficiency.
