Auggie is three years old and has already faced more than most. After being diagnosed with Leukemia at just one year old and going through treatment Corewell Health Children in Southeast Michigan, he is officially done with treatment and was SO excited to celebrate on his wish trip!
His mom shared “The wish experience meant that after 2.5 years of feeling different from other kids, feeling sick, and feeling excluded from everyday life, Auggie got to feel cherished and special. He got to feel celebrated for all he’s overcome. It was the perfect way to celebrate him being done with cancer treatment and to transition back into a “normal” life.”
Auggie and his family experienced so many special moments at Disney World and Give Kids the World that made them feel that extra special magic of receiving a wish!
At Animal Kingdom a cast member made magic happen for Auggie and his family. After hearing how much he loves The Lion King, the cast member arranged for the family to meet some of the performers after the show. They took pictures with the performers and even got their autographs! At Hollywood Studios Auggie and Family rode on Slinky Dog Dash, one of their absolute favorites! As they were making their way off the ride, a cast member offered for them to ride again without having to go back through the line!!
At the end of the night, Auggie realized his new Simba stuffie was missing and he was absolutely devastated. His mom went to guest services at Hollywood Studio to see if anyone had turned it in. His mom shared, “The kindest staff member checked for us and unfortunately it had not been turned in. She wrote us a voucher for TWO replacement stuffies – one for Auggie and one so his sister could pick one out too! As we were picking out the stuffies, she came running over saying someone had turned it in and that we could keep the vouchers regardless. We felt so taken care of!”
We are so happy that Auggie and his family experienced such a magical wish trip, filled with so many memories and joy that they will always cherish.
